Description

Roger Seng wears many hats in his professional life as a YouTube content creator focused on cameras and technology, an owner and creative director of a creative studio that supports clients’ video work, and the chief digital officer of a software company.  Between his diverse endeavors, Seng creates hours’ worth of video content each month for a variety of platforms, people, and needs.  The one constant throughout his professional operation is his use of Ci Media Cloud, Sony’s cloud-based file management solution for collaborating, sharing, and reviewing media files.

Whether creating content for his personal channels or supporting client video work, Seng take his files, uploads them to his Ci Workspace and is easily able to share the videos with additional reviewers – whether those are brands whose products he’s evaluating, clients, or stakeholders.  Without sharing any raw assets, Seng can share videos to brand partners. Partners can preview projects in the browsers without downloading large media files and leave feedback and comments directly on the video before final files are delivered and uploaded.

Seng values the simplicity of Ci and his ability to do everything in one platform.  He first learned about Ci at a trade show and after seeing a demo called it a “light bulb” moment.  He explained, “It is a diamond in the rough.  I immediately realized that with Ci, I could consolidate the video and cloud platforms I was using.  It was a no-brainer to implement the solution.  Ci offers enough space to accommodate different types of media assets and videos.”

Ci enhances Seng’s productivity while decreasing his overall time spent, especially when compared to using two separate services for video production, as he had in the past.  He explained, “Ci has helped me increase my productivity because I’m going to one place to solve all of my video production problems.  It has also been a time saver.  I like to have duplicate copies of my assets on hard drives locally.  Asset management is easier for me when all of my files are in one place and can easily be duplicated without having to pull back from two different sources.”

With less than a year’s use of Ci, Seng has uncovered many benefits and built-in features that he appreciates.  He said, “I love Ci Media Cloud for the file sharing, notes and review.  The scrubbing preview is also really helpful.  Being able to send finished videos, additional creative assets, and thumbnails in Ci is huge for me.”

Speed was another critical benefit Seng spoke of.  “The upload speeds are fast in Ci Media Cloud.  It’s impressive.  I sent roughly 20 gigabytes to a collaborator, and it took record time.  I was dreading sending it over, but Ci made it really easy.”

Beyond his appreciation of the platform, Seng has shared his enthusiasm for Ci with other creators.  “I’ve even sent Ci file request links to others which offers easy collaboration and saves me an extra step.  I’m a fan of this workflow and have tried to expose it to others because I really believe in this streamlined process,” he added.

Seng has also been able to incorporate his other production tools into his Ci workflow.  “I have used the Premiere Pro plugin and it’s been really helpful when I’m on the go and want to travel with as little as I can.  I don’t have to bring a couple of hard drives with me.  It’s nice to just go into Premiere Pro, and download those assets directly to my computer using the plugin.”

As a fan of Sony’s products and vision, Seng is glad to add Ci to his toolkit, expand his relationship with the brand, and come full circle.  “Sony technologies have enabled me to build the YouTube channel of my dreams, out of nothing.  And they don’t just make the tools to help create the content, but also to consume it.  Sony bridges the gap between content creator and content consumer to make that experience so delightful.”
